Iona's Kirui, Miller, & Motschmann Qualify for the 2017 NCAA DI Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships

EDISON, NJ - Iona College senior Chartt Miller and juniors Gilbert Kirui & Johannes Motschmann will represent the MAAC at the 2017 NCAA Division I Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship on June 7-10 in Eugene, Oregon. 

Senior Chartt Miller qualified last week with a 10th place finish in the Men's NCAA East Preliminary 5000m race with a time of 14:14.48.  Miller was selected MAAC Men's Track Performer of the Week once this year and also holds the top times this year in the Men's 1500m & 5000m race.  The Men's 5000m final will take place on Friday, June 9th at 10:25pm.

Junior Johannes Motschmann finished 11th in the 3000m Steeplechase last week to qualify for the Championships with a time of 8:46.49.  Motschmann was named MAAC Men's Track Performer of the Week once this year and holds the top time in the 3000m Steeplechase with his performance at the NCAA East Preliminaries. The Men's 3000m Steeplechase semifinal will take place on Wednesday, June 7th at 8:02pm.  If Motschmann were to qualify for the final, the race would take place on Friday, June 9th at 8:54pm.

Junior Gilbert Kirui will join his fellow teammates in Oregon with a seventh place finish in the Men's 10000m race with a time of 29:59.03. Kirui also holds the top time in the MAAC this year in the event.  The Men's 10000m final will take place on Wednesday, June 7th at 10:08pm.
