Monmouth University Wins 2017 MAAC Men's Lacrosse Championship

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – With a 9-8 defeat over third seeded Marist College, Monmouth University claims the 2017 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's Lacrosse Championship, its first in program history.
2017 MAAC Men's Lacrosse Championship Most Valuable Player, Tyler Keen, scored two goals and added two assists for the Hawks.
Monmouth took a 6-3 lead going into halftime. Marist came out of the locker room in the second half and outscored the Hawks 4-1 in the third quarter. Going into the fourth quarter, the game was tied at seven. At the 10:45 mark in the fourth quarter, Bryce Wasserman scored an over-the-shoulder goal to give Monmouth an 8-7 lead. Dylan Schulte added another goal for the Hawks at the 5:09 mark to extend the Monmouth lead to 9-7.
Gannon Morrison recorded a hat trick with 56 seconds left for Marist to make it a 9-8 game. As the final seconds winded down on the clock, Monmouth caused a turnover and goalkeeper Nick Hreshko, who recorded 12 saves, picked up the groundball, to clinch the championship for Monmouth.
