Monmouth Men's Lacrosse Slated to Face Bryant in NCAA Tournament Play-In Game

EDISON, NJ – The 2017 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's Lacrosse Champions, Monmouth University, will head to Smithfield, RI to take on Northeast Conference Champions, Bryant University in the 2017 NCAA Tournament Play-In Game on Wednesday, May 10, as announced on ESPNU. Game time is set for 7pm.
Monmouth defeated Marist 9-8 in the 2017 MAAC Men's Lacrosse Championship Game to win its first-ever conference championship. Led by BSN Sports MAAC Coach of the Year, Brian Fisher, the Hawks went 6-0 in the MAAC during the regular season. Monmouth currently stands at 14-3 overall and have the nation's longest active winning streak with 11 games. In year four of the Monmouth Men's Lacrosse program, the Hawks earn their first NCAA Tournament selection.
The Hawks meet Bryant University for just the second time in program history. The first matchup came back on March 11, 2014 with the Bulldogs, who were ranked 18th in the nation at the time, defeated Monmouth 12-7. 2014 was the first season in program history for Monmouth. In four years, the Hawks went from 0-13 to MAAC Champions behind the leadership of its 22 member senior class.
Tyler Keen was named 2017 MAAC Men's Lacrosse Championship Most Valuable Player. Keen scored four goals and recorded three assists in the semifinals and championship final to earn MVP honors. Eamon Campbell, Chris Daly & Andrew Grajewski were named to the MAAC All-Championship Team.
