Canisius Women's Lacrosse to Face Boston College in NCAA Tournament

EDISON, NJ – The 2017 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women's Lacrosse Champions, Canisius College (15-4), will face Boston College (13-6) on Friday, May 12 at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, NY in the first round of the 2017 Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship. The winner will move on to play No. 6 Syracuse. This marks the second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and sixth appearance in program history for the Golden Griffins.

Canisius is led by junior midfielder Erica Evans. Evans was named the unanimous 2017 MAAC Midfielder of the Year, a unanimous All-MAAC First Team Selection, and the 2017 MAAC Women's Lacrosse Championship Most Valuable Player. Evans broke the MAAC single-season record for goals scored and total points. Ashley Bull, Tessa Chad, Jen Reininger, and Jourdan Roemer all joined Evans on the 2017 All-Championship Team as the Griffs claimed the Championship Title.

Canisius comes off a record breaking MAAC season, going undefeated in regular season conference play for the third year in a row. The Griffs six MAAC Championship Titles (2017, 2016, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011) are the most in conference history.
