MAAC & Staten Island Yankees Announce Three-Year Partnership
STATEN ISLAND, NY – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and Staten Island Yankees have announced a three-year agreement to host the MAAC Baseball Championship from 2018-20 at Richmond County Bank Ballpark, home of the Single-A affiliate of the New York Yankees.
“The MAAC membership is excited about the opportunity to partner with the Staten Island Yankees, and have its baseball championship played at Richmond County Bank Ballpark,” notes MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor. “The site will be a terrific experience for the MAAC’s student-athletes, their fans, and families. We look forward to enhancing the brand awareness of MAAC Baseball in the tri-state region with this new partnership.”
Richmond County Bank Ballpark seats roughly 7,000 fans and has been the home to the six-time New York Penn League Champions since June 24, 2001. Richmond County Bank Ballpark, has been the host to concerts, food festivals, and other ancillary events, overlooks lower Manhattan and is considered one of the best views in all of Minor League Baseball.

Hosting more baseball at our ballpark while introducing MAAC fans to the Island and the local developments is a win-win. During the 2017 MLB Draft, the MAAC had a conference-best 11 student-athletes selected. All 11 players selected in the June Amateur Draft have since gone on to make their minor league debuts over the course of the summer. Marist College claimed the 2017 MAAC Baseball Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, falling to eventual NCAA Champion University of Florida. Marist has recorded the most MAAC Baseball Championships (six) among active members.
The 2018 MAAC Baseball Championship takes place from May 23-May 28. Tickets will be on-sale at a later date.
