EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced Quinnipiac University’s institutional honorees to be inducted in the MAAC Honor Roll, in which honorees will be enshrined in “The MAAC Experience” exhibit at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday, September 16.

Each member institution of the MAAC honors one male and one female from its basketball “family” as part of the 2017 induction class. A dinner event will be on Saturday, September 16 at the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Court of Dreams to recognize the Honor Roll inductees.

Each honoree will be profiled in the game program for the 2018 MAAC Basketball Championships, and will also be featured in a video display at “The MAAC Experience.”

Monique Lee ‘08
A dominant post player in her time as a Bobcat, Monique Lee ’08 helped lead Quinnipiac to three Northeast Conference semifinal appearances as well as the program’s first trip to the WNIT throughout a stellar four-year career. Standing at six-foot-one, Lee finished her career with one of the most impressive statistical totals of any player in program history as she recorded 1,378 points, 932 rebounds, 119 blocks, 151 steals and 184 assists. She ranks 10th all-time at Quinnipiac in career points, fifth in rebounds, tied for fifth in blocks and third in free throws made (370).

A three-time All-NEC performer (First Team 2005-06, Second Team 2006-07, All-Rookie 2004-05), Lee made a name for herself as a workhorse on the glass and a potent finisher around the rim. She averaged 12.6 points per game across her career and never averaged less than 9.7 PPG in any season (2004-08). An instant performer as a rookie, Lee posted averages of 10.1 points and 9.6 rebounds per game, a total that ranked 29th in the nation in 2004-05. She broke through a year later, putting up a career-best 15.9 PPG with 8.9 RPG as a sophomore on her way to earning All-NEC First Team laurels. Along with her development came significant team success as the Bobcats recorded four straight winning seasons in Lee’s career including the first 20+ win campaign at the NCAA Division I level (22-8 record in 2005-06) as well as a 25-win season in her senior year (2007-08) that culminated in the program’s first WNIT appearance.

Known for her tenacity at the rim, Lee’s career high point total came in a game against Robert Morris on February 12, 2007 in which she matched a program record with 14 made field goals (14-for-21 FG) on her way to a massive 28-point, 15-rebound performance in a win over the Colonials. She also holds the third and fifth-highest single-game rebounding total in program history as she grabbed a career high 25 rebounds against Monmouth in the NEC quarterfinals on March 5, 2005 and also came away with 19 boards at Mount Saint Mary’s on January 19, 2006.
