First Wilson Men's Soccer Weekly Awards of 2017 Announced

Offensive Player of the Week
David Nkansah-Siriboe, Marist
So., F, Poughkeepsie, NY/Roy C. Ketcham
 
Nkansah-Siriboe tallied two goals, four shots and two shots on goal in a 3-2 comeback win vs Albany. He scored the Red Foxes first goal in the 65 minute to bring the score to 2-1 and then the game winner in the 82nd minute to seal the victory.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Kellar Sirstins, Iona
Jr., GK, Taylorsville, UT/Taylorsville
 
Junior Kellar Sirstins kept a clean slate on the road against No. 24 UConn in Iona's season-opening 1-0 win.  Among his two saves of the night was one against penalty kick in the second half that would have given the Huskies the lead.  Sirstins was able to dive left and get a hand on the shot to deflect it off the post. It was Iona's first ever win against UConn, and the first win for the program over a top 25 team since 2012 when the Gaels beat No. 25 Monmouth at Mazzella Field.
 
Rookie of the Week
Josh Plimpton, Iona
Fr., M, South Glastonbury, CT/ Glastonbury
 
Freshman Josh Plimpton scored Iona's game-winning goal against No. 24 UConn on Friday, Aug. 25.  The Gaels took down the preseason ranked team in the season-opener when Plimpton, who made in impact in just 35 minutes, successfully deposited a loose ball in the box. It was Iona's first ever win against UConn in six attempts, and first win over a ranked opponent since 2012 then the Maroon & Gold took down No. 25 Monmouth at Mazzella Field.
