Blake Hamilton & Amanda Rosato Named 2017 Monmouth University MAAC Basketball Honor Roll Inductees
EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced Monmouth University institutional honorees to be inducted in the MAAC Honor Roll, in which honorees will be enshrined in “The MAAC Experience” exhibit at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday, September 16.
Each member institution of the MAAC honors one male and one female from its basketball “family” as part of the 2017 induction class. A dinner event will be on Saturday, September 16 at the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Court of Dreams to recognize the Honor Roll inductees.
Each honoree will be profiled in the game program for the 2018 MAAC Basketball Championships, and will also be featured in a video display at “The MAAC Experience.”
Blake Hamilton ‘05
One of the most prolific scorers in program history, Blake Hamilton finished a four-year career at Monmouth with 1,433 points, sixth most in Division I program history at the time of his graduation. Hamilton averaged 16.3 points per game for the 2003-04 team that advanced to Monmouth’s third-ever NCAA Tournament before posting 16.2 points per contest as a senior. He averaged 12 points per contest for his career, a top-20 mark in school history, and combined with Dwayne Byfield in 2003-04 to score 920 total points, one of the top-scoring duos at Monmouth.
One of three Hawks to ever earn Player of the Year honors, Hamilton did so in 2004-05 as a senior. He was twice named First Team All-Conference, and led the Hawks to the 2004 NEC crown as the Tournament MVP. His senior year garnered him AP Honorable Mention All-America honors, joining Rahsaan Johnson and most recently Justin Robinson as the trio of Monmouth All-Americans.
Amanda Rosato ‘01
Monmouth’s Amanda Rosato burst onto the collegiate basketball scene with a 30-point output in her debut. The Hawks defeated Fordham 76-71 in double overtime, and Rosato never looked back. She is prominent in the Monmouth record book in nearly every category, and currently ranks third on Monmouth’s all-time scoring list at 1,889 points, including two 39-point games (second all-time), a 35-point game, and a 34-point game. Her 521 points during the 1998-99 season ranks second in program history for a single season. In addition to her scoring prowess, Rosato currently sits at 16th in Monmouth history with 234 career assists. With 217 career steals, she ranks fourth in program history.
During a 78-67 win over Fairleigh Dickinson on January 31, 2001, Rosato sunk a Monmouth record 17 free-throws en route to 39 points. The senior would also set the top program mark for free-throws in a season with 142, and is third in program history with 398 career made free-throws. Her astounding .827 (398-481) career free-throw percentage sits atop the Monmouth leaderboard. And her 227 career three-point field goals made also ranks first. As a freshman, Rosato was named to the NEC All-Rookie Team in 1997-98 and earned Second Team All-Conference honors after her 1998-99 campaign. She elevated to the First Team the year after, and landed on the Second Team once again as a senior.
