MAAC Announces 2017-18 Women’s Basketball Schedule

EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced its 2017-18 women’s basketball league schedule. Each institution plays an unbalanced 18-game league schedule, with nine home games and nine away games, starting the final week of December.
 
Notable matchups from the upcoming 2017-18 season include:
  • Conference play begins on Thursday, December 28, with a pair of games on the schedule. Manhattan College hosts Saint Peter’s University from Draddy Gymnasium in Riverdale, NY. The second matchup on the opening day of the conference slate, features the 2016-17 MAAC champions, Quinnipiac University taking on Siena College at the Quinnipiac Sports Center in Hamden, CT.  
  • Quinnipiac and Rider University go head-to-head on Monday, January 15, in a rematch of the 2017 MAAC Women’s Basketball Championship game at the Quinnipiac Sports Center in Hamden, CT. The Bobcats and Broncs meet for a second time in the 2017-18 campaign on Sunday, February 18, at Alumni Gym in Lawrenceville, NJ.   
  • The “Battle of the Bridge” rivalry continues on Thursday, February 1, when Canisius College hosts Niagara University from the Koessler Athletic Center in Buffalo, NY. The second meeting between the two lock rivals, takes place on Tuesday, February 20 at the home of the Purple Eagles, the Taps Gallagher Center in Niagara University, NY. The Griffs hold a (57-35) lead in the all-time season series.
  • Iona College and Manhattan square off for the first time on Thursday, January 18, at Draddy Gymnasium in Riverdale, NY. The local, in-state rivals meet again on Saturday, February 17, at the Hynes Athletic Center in New Rochelle, NY.
  • Fairfield University and Quinnipiac renew their Connecticut in-state rivalry on Saturday, January 20 at the Quinnipiac Sports Center in Hamden, CT. The teams meet again on Friday, February 2, when the Stags host the Bobcats from Alumni Hall in Fairfield, CT.
  • Monmouth University, Rider, and Saint Peter’s University meet in the “hOURglass” rivalry, which begins on Tuesday, January 2, when the Peacocks host the Broncs from the Yanitelli Center in Jersey City, NJ. Monmouth welcomes Saint Peter’s to OceanFirst Bank Center in West Long Branch, NJ on Sunday, January 7. The Peacocks play host to the Hawks on Friday, January 26. Monmouth hosts Rider on Saturday, February 3 in their lone meeting of the regular season. The Broncs take on the Peacocks on Friday, February 9, from Alumni Gym in Lawrenceville, NJ.  
  • Marist College and Siena College meet on Thursday, January 18 from the Alumni Recreation Center (ARC) in Loudonville, NY and face each other for a second time on Saturday, February 3, at McCann Arena in Poughkeepsie, NY.
The 2017-18 MAAC television broadcast schedule will be announced at a later date.

The MAAC season concludes with the 2018 MAAC Basketball Championships, March 1-5, at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY. The 2018 Championship game takes place on Monday, March 5 at 2:30 p.m. and airs live on ESPNU with the winner earning the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
