Erika Seagren Named MAAC Director of Compliance
EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has named Erika Seagren as its Director of Compliance, announced today by Commissioner Rich Ensor.
“I am pleased to have Erika rejoin the MAAC staff following her tenure as MAAC Administrative fellow in 2015-16. Erika brings both campus and conference experience to MAAC, along with hard work, enthusiasm, and dedication. She will be a positive administrator who will provide quality assistance to our members,” notes Sr. Associate Commissioner, Jessica Hegmann.
In her role, Seagren will serve as the conference's NCAA compliance coordinator and handle all inquiries and interactions between the MAAC membership and the national office. She will oversee the National Letter of Intent Program, provide rules education, serve as the conference resource person for the NCAA Institutional Performance Program, and enforce the MAAC Constitution, Bylaws, and Administrative agreements.
“I want to thank Commissioner Ensor and Sr. Associate Commissioner Hegmann for giving me an opportunity to return to the MAAC as Director of Compliance. I enjoyed my time as a fellow throughout the 2015-16 academic year and I look forward to rejoining the staff in my new role within the conference,” said Seagren.
Additionally, Seagren will oversee the MAAC Choices program. Throughout the year, MAAC institutions hold sober tailgate parties to educate students about the risk involved with the misuse of alcohol on campuses. The objective of the program is to alter the choices being made in the social landscape of higher education.
Seagren returns to the conference after working at Wagner College as a media relations and marketing assistant. While at Wagner, Seagren was the sport contact for men’s and women’s water polo in addition to her marketing duties.
During the 2015-16 academic year, Seagren worked at the MAAC as an administrative fellow. As a fellow, Seagren assisted with the conference’s marketing efforts throughout basketball season. She served as the promotions coordinator at the AdvoCare Invitational, the basketball tournament held annually at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports, as well as at the MAAC Basketball Championships.
Seagren, a 2015 graduate of Siena College, earned her bachelor’s degree in management. While at Siena, she was a member of the Saints swimming and diving team, earning co-captain status and MAAC All-Academic honors. Seagren also served as the Events & Service Coordinator of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), working directly with her peers and administration to plan community service projects.
