Three MAAC Water Polo Programs Ranked in 2018 CWPA Preseason Poll
BRIDGEPORT, PA – Three Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) water polo programs were ranked in the
2018 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Preseason Poll, as announced by the organization. Defending MAAC Champion, Wagner College ranked No. 20 in the poll, followed by Marist College (No. 23), and Iona College (No. 24).
The Seahawks (25-11, 14-0 MAAC) claimed their fourth-straight and seventh overall MAAC Water Polo Championship in 2017, the most in conference history. Wagner opens its 2018 season on Saturday, January 27, in the Michigan Invite in Ann Arbor, MI.
Marist reached the Championship final for the fourth year in a row last season. The Red Foxes posted a record of (20-14, 11-3 MAAC) in 2017, which featured a season-long six-game winning streak from April 2-April 9. Marist begins this season on the road on Saturday, January 20 in the Rainbow Invite in Manoa, HI.
The Gaels finished the 2017 season (12-13, 8-6 MAAC) and were the No. 4 seed in the MAAC Championship. Iona fell to Wagner in the semifinal round of the Championship and then went on to defeat Virginia Military Institute, 11-10, in the Consolation game. The Gaels open their 2018 slate in the Hoosier Invite in Bloomington, IN.
The MAAC Water Polo Championship returns to the McCann Natatorium on the campus of Marist College for the 16
