HAMDEN, CT - The Quinnipiac women's basketball team was named the NCAA.com Team of the Week after extending its win streak to 12 games and remaining perfect in the MAAC this past weekend.
Quinnipiac, who is currently 17-5 and 11-0 in the MAAC, defeated both Canisius and Niagara by an identical score of 84-55 this weekend. Offensively, the Bobcats were led by Jen Fay (Lynbrook, New York), who had 17 points against Canisius and followed that up with 18 points and nine rebounds against Niagara. The Bobcats also received contributions from Aryn McClure (Springfield Gardens, New York) who netted 16 points against the Golden Griffins and 10 points along with six assists against the Purple Eagles. Defensively, the Bobcats continued to get strong play from junior forward Paula Strautmane (Riga, Latvia) who blocked five shots and recorded five steals against Canisius. Strautmane also contributed 10 points in the Bobcats' win over Canisius.
The Bobcats, who have not loss since they dropped a road matchup against the Michigan State Spartans on December 18th, stand undefeated in the MAAC so far this season, defeating MAAC opponents by an average of 19.5 points.
Quinnipiac returns to action in search of its 13th-straight win when it travels to take on in-state MAAC rival Fairfield at Alumni Hall on Friday at 7 p.m.
