DeVita Named MAAC Men’s Basketball Media Relations Contact

EDISON, NJ – Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Commissioner Rich Ensor has announced Director of New Media/Communications, Robert DeVita as the new media relations contact for men’s basketball, to go along with new sports assignments.
 
“DeVita provides the MAAC with key skill sets as it continues to serve the membership with a wide range of new media tools to market its student-athletes and institutions,” notes Ensor, “DeVita’s experience will continue to help the conference as it hosts the 2018 & 2019 NCAA Women’s Basketball Regionals, and 2020 & 2022, NCAA Men’s Basketball First & Second Rounds.”
 
In his new role, he will serve as the primary media relations contact for men’s soccer, volleyball, men’s basketball, water polo, men’s lacrosse, and baseball. He will continue to serve as the media coordinator for the 2018 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Regional hosted in Albany, NY at the Times Union Center. In addition, DeVita will continue to work with the conference communications staff to select weekly award winners, compose press releases, compile statistics, update MAACSports.com, and assist the Assistant Commissioner for New Media in the marketing, content development, championship operations, promotion, and development of the MAAC brand through the league’s various forms of new and social media.
 
DeVita joined the MAAC in October of 2016 as the Director of New Media/Communications where he served as the primary media contact for women’s basketball, women’s soccer, volleyball, women’s lacrosse, and softball. He oversaw the MAAC’s ticket operations, and played a vital role in the creation of the new MAACSports.com that launched with SIDEARM Sports in July 2017. DeVita also assisted with media operations at the 2017 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball First & Second Rounds in Buffalo, NY at the KeyBank Center.
 
Prior to joining the MAAC, DeVita served as a Media Relations Associate with the New York Mets during the 2016 season. Before his stint with Mets, he spent time at St. Francis Brooklyn as an Athletic Communications Assistant where he was the primary contact for women’s basketball and women’s water polo. While at St. Francis Brooklyn, he also worked part-time with the Brooklyn Nets as a member of their Public Relations game night staff.
 
The Brooklyn, NY native earned his Bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts from St. Francis Brooklyn in May of 2015. As an undergraduate, he served as the President of Lambda Pi Eta Communications Honor Society and was the Sports Editor of the college’s student body newspaper, SFC Today.
