Georgia Garden Bachop Earns National Accolades
CHANDLER, AZ – Following her 10-point weekend, Monmouth University field hockey senior forward Georgia Garden Bachop was recognized by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) as a National Player of the Week, honorable mention, the organization announced Wednesday.
"What an honor for Georgia to be recognized with some of the nation's best," said head coach
Carli Figlio. "She has really come into her own this year on the forward line. We are proud of her hard work and competitive spirit."
Garden Bachop, the back-to-back Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, posted both game-winning goals for the Hawks in league wins against LIU Brooklyn and Bryant. The senior registered her first career hat trick and dished out an assist in a seven-point outing against the Blackbirds, becoming the seventh Hawk all-time to record a seven point game. Garden Bachop followed up with a goal and an assist against the Bulldogs on Sunday. The fourth-year Hawk has goals in five of the last six outings to run her total to 11 on the year, a new career best in a single season.
Garden Bachop and the Hawks will travel to Philadelphia for a non-conference tilt at Drexel next Friday, October 12th at 7 p.m. before hosting Sacred Heart for Senior Day on Sunday, October 14th at 1 p.m.
