Women's Soccer Championship Field Set
EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced the
2018 Women’s Soccer Championship field for the three-day championship between October 28-November 4.
The MAAC Women's Soccer Championship follows a new format this year. The six-team championship will take place over three days with all games being hosted by the higher seeds. First round games will take place on Sunday, October 28 and will be hosted by the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds. The semifinal games are hosted by the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds on Thursday, November 1 and the championship game Sunday, November 4 will be hosted by the highest remaining seed.

Monmouth University (14-3-1, 9-1) became the first program in MAAC history to win six-consecutive Regular Season Championships. The Hawks clinched the No. 1 seed on Wednesday, October 17 in a 2-0 win versus Niagara. The Hawks defeated Iona College (3-13-2, 1-7-2) 7-0 in the regular season finale to close the season on a nine-game winning streak. Monmouth will host a semifinal and receive a first round bye while chasing its third-straight MAAC Championship.
Marist College (9-7-2, 7-2-1) earned the No. 2 seed and will receive a first round bye and a home semifinal match. The Red Foxes defeated Fairfield University (7-9-2, 2-6-2) in a 1-0 shutout Wednesday to clinch. Marist notched four shutouts in league play this season.
First Round action begins Sunday, October 28, with No. 3 Siena College (9-7-3, 6-2-2) vs No. 6 Quinnipiac University (6-7-4, 3-3-4). Siena claimed the No. 3 seed with a 1-0 shutout victory versus Canisius College (4-8-5, 1-5-4). The Saints have won six of their last seven games, all six of those being shutouts. Quinnipiac defeated Manhattan College (3-8-4, 2-5-3) en route to clinching the final seed in the championship.
Niagara University (9-6-2, 5-3-2) played its final game Saturday, October 20 beating Fairfield University (7-9-2, 2-6-2), 2-0. The Purple Eagles locked up a No. 4 seed and will play their first round game vs No. 5 seed Rider University (8-5-4, 4-3-3). The Broncs closed out the season 2-1-2 in their final five games to clinch a sixth consecutive postseason berth.
Semifinals are Thursday, November 1 with all game times TBD. The 2018 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship game is on Sunday, November 4.
