EDISON, NJ – Following the conclusion of the 2018 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Field Hockey regular season, the championship field is set. The four team field will meet at So Sweet A Cat Field in West Long Branch, NJ, November 2-4.
 
For the fifth consecutive season, Monmouth University is the MAAC Regular Season Champion. The Hawks will serve as the championship site host and No. 1 seed after a perfect 5-0 league record and 11-6 overall. Monmouth went 8-0 at So Sweet A Cat Field this season and 34-5 at home since 2015. Monmouth will play Sacred Heart University (8-10, 2-3) in the second semifinal of the championship at 2 p.m. in a rematch of a October 14 matchup in which the Hawks won 4-1.

Rider University (11-6, 4-1) led the MAAC offensively in points (133), goals (49), assists (39) and averaged close to three goals per game (2.88). The Broncs clinched the No. 2 seed by beating Sacred Heart University 2-0 Wednesday night. Rider will play Fairfield November 1 at 11 a.m. The two met in Lawrenceville, NJ on October 12 and Rider won 2-1 in overtime.
 
Fairfield (11-7, 3-2) is fresh off a 4-0 victory versus LIU Brooklyn, October 25. After Wednesday’s outcomes, the Stags will be the No. 3 seed in the upcoming championship. The Stags will end their season versus Saint Louis on Saturday, October 27 at 12 p.m. Fairfield leads the MAAC in goals allowed (25), second in assists (33), and third in goals (40).
 
Sacred Heart clinched the No. 4 seed despite falling on Wednesday to Rider. The Pioneers leads the league in saves (135) and save percentage (.771%). Sacred Heart takes a non-conference trip to Columbia on Sunday, October 28 at 2 p.m. to wrap up their regular season.
