Siena and Niagara Advance to the Semifinals of the Women’s Soccer Championship

No. 3 Siena College (10-7-3) defeated No. 6 Quinnipiac University (6-8-4), 2-1, behind two goals including the game-winner, from Emily McNelis. In the 96
th minute, the freshman scored her fourth goal of the season to put the Saints through to the semifinals. Siena will travel to Poughkeepsie, NY on November 1 for a 7 p.m. showdown with No. 2 Marist College (9-7-2).
Siena Notes
• The Saints have won seven of last eight games.
• Only loss on that stretch was to Marist, 2-0, on October 17
th.
• Goalkeeper Taylor Dorado made four saves and moved into fifth all-time in program history (250).
• Ashleigh Sarafin and Madi Belvito recorded an assist.
Quinnipiac Notes
• Finished the season at 6-8-4 overall.
• Kelsey Goldring scored on a penalty kick in the third minute. Goldring finished 2018 with six tallies.
• Goalkeeper Olivia Myszewski recorded two saves.

Niagara University (10-6-2) held Rider University (8-6-4) over the final minutes, 2-1. Freshman forward Annie Ibey scored both goals for the Purple Eagles and goalkeeper Shania van Nuland made five saves to seal the victory. Niagara will travel to West Long Branch, NJ for a 5 p.m. semifinal matchup with No. 1 Monmouth University (14-3-1).

• Niagara scored both goals in the first half (10
th and 29
th minutes) and held a 2-0 lead at the half.
• Niagara tallied 15 shots by five different players.
• Ibey scored her ninth and 10
th goals of the season.
• Kelsey Araujo recorded five shots and two assists.
Rider Notes
• Kourtney Cunningham scored in the 76
th minute for the Broncs.
• Cunningham moved into sixth in program history with 21 career goals.
• Goalkeeper Carmen Carbonell made six saves.
