Banas and Dee Named Pepsi MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Madison Banas finished tied for eighth in a field of 46 golfers this past weekend at the Hartford Hawks Invitational. The junior carded an opening round of 79 and followed up with a final round of 77 to vault up the leaderboard into the eighth spot. Banas was also Fairfield's top finisher at the Dartmouth Invitational and was the Stags' second-best performer at the Towson Invitational earlier this fall.
In the classroom, she is a MAAC Academic Honor Roll student as a communications major.

Iona College
Men's Cross Country
Freshman Jamie Dee has already had a standout season for the Iona College men's cross-country program. On Friday, Sept. 14
th, at the 24
th annual Brother John "Paddy" Doyle Meet of Champions, Dee was the top performer for the Maroon & Gold with a second-place finish. He ran the 8K event in a time of 25:03.0 and carried the Gaels to a fourth-place finish out of 11 Division I teams. Amongst the teams competing were regionally ranked Indiana, Colombia, and Liberty.
On Friday, Sept. 24 at the prestigious Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational, Dee crossed the finish line of the tough 8K track in 24:27.5. The Gaels placed 17
th out of 33 programs. The other schools competing in Madison, WI included nationally recognized Northern Arizona, Colorado State and the hosting Wisconsin Badgers.
Iona has this upcoming weekend off before the squad will split on Friday, Oct. 12
th. Some will travel to State College, PA for the Penn State National Open while others will remain local for the Metropolitan Championships at Van Cortlandt Park.
