Saint Peter’s Powers & Quinnipiac’s Sahzin Named MAAC Golfers of the Month
Men’s Golfer of the Month

Junior golfer David Powers put together the best overall month for the Peacocks, leading Saint Peter’s to two out of three team championships in October. In all three tournaments during the month, Powers never finished worse than second best on the Peacocks lineup and he placed top-five in two of the three events. To begin the month, Powers and Saint Peter’s competed in the UConn Invitational where he finished second on the team at the event. At the Hawk Invitational on October 23, Powers shot a one under par, putting him in a tie for third place in the team’s number four spot, helping Saint Peter’s claim a share of the team title with host Monmouth. To close out the month
at the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championship from October 28-29, he led the team with a card of 70-73=143 (+3), for a second-place finish, leading to Saint Peter’s second straight team crown. At the Metropolitan Intercollegiate, Saint Peter’s took the top spot in a field of 15 teams that included six MAAC members.
Women’s Golfer of the Month
Alexandra Sahzin, Quinnipiac

Alexandra Sazhin shined for the Bobcats as the junior recorded the lowest score in a single round this season with a 70 (-1) at the Blue Hen Invitational in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Sahzin placed 13th overall in the event, recording eight birdies on the weekend, which was fourth overall at the event. The low round of 70 came immediately after posting a 71 (-1) at the Brown Bear Invitational at Ledgemont Country Club in Seekonk, MA. She struck for a season-high six birdies, including four in the opening nine holes of play to move up eight spots and finish tied for fourth overall in the tournament. The Connecticut native also shot a 72 (+1) in the second round of the Yale Women's Intercollegiate to open the month of October.
