MAAC Volleyball Championship Field Set
EDISON, NJ - The seeds and matchups for the 2018 MAAC Volleyball Championship have been determined after the conclusion of the regular season on Sunday.
The 10-team championship gets underway on Thursday, November 15 and runs through Saturday, November 17 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, FL. It is the first time since 2014 that the championship will at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex.
The regular season champions, Iona College (18-7, 16-2 MAAC), enter the championship as the top seed and get a bye to the semifinals. Canisius College (16-11, 14-4) earned the No. 2 seed and will also get a bye to the semifinals.
Iona won the MAAC Regular Season Title outright for the first time in program history.
Thursday’s first-round quadruple header starts at 10 a.m. when No. 3 Rider University (17-10, 12-6) takes on No. 10 Siena College (4-27, 2-16). The second game of the day features No. 4 seed Fairfield University (12-15, 11-7) and No. 9 Manhattan College (5-26, 3-15) at 12:30 p.m.
The evening session on Thursday starts at 5 p.m. with No. 5 Marist College (14-14, 11-7) matching up with No. 8 Saint Peter’s University (8-24, 5-13). The last game on Thursday is at 7:30 p.m. and will feature No. 6 Niagara University (9-18, 9-9) and No. 7 Quinnipiac (8-20, 7-11).
After the conclusion of each round, the bracket will be reseeded. The highest advancing seed will play the lowest advancing seed in the second round. Iona, the No. 1 seed, will play the lowest advancing seed in the semifinals.
