MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship Game
Quinnipiac Soccer Stadium | Hamden, CT

Fifth-seeded Rider University (10-9-1) won its third MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship in the last four seasons with a 1-0 win over second-seeded Quinnipiac University (10-6-3) on Sunday afternoon. The Broncs will represent the MAAC in the NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship. The Men’s Soccer Selection Show will be on Monday at 1 p.m. on NCAA.com.

Rider Notes
• Rider won back-to-back MAAC Championships in 2015 and 2016. The Broncs now own five Men’s Soccer Championships—tied for second most all-time with Fairfield.
• The lone Rider goal came from Pablo DeCastro in the 55th minute. The goal was the redshirt-sophomore’s eighth of the season, which leads the team. Clement Bourret assisted on the tally.
• Pablo Gatinois stopped all 10 shots on goal he faced. The sophomore goalkeeper improved to 10-6 on the season and picked up his seventh clean sheet.
• Rider won all three games in the MAAC Championship on the road, and all three were shutouts. The Broncs have shutout their last five opponents.
• The fifth-seeded Broncs are the lowest seed to win the MAAC Championship since Fairfield University did so as a six seed in 2014.

Quinnipiac Notes
• The loss snapped a six-game unbeaten streak for Quinnipiac (4-0-2).
• Jared Mazzola made three stops in goal.
• Matthew Taylor fired all three of his shots on frame, which led the Bobcats in shots on goal.
