Morenaite and Usilo Named Pepsi Zero MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Iona College women's cross-country sophomore Egle Morenaite led the Gaels to a fifth-place team finish at the 2018 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship at Audobon Golf Course. Morenaite finished second overall individually to earn a place in next weekend's NCAA Championship.
Morenaite completed the 6k course in 21:39.9, 11 seconds behind race winner Shannon Malone from Syracuse. Sophomore Gemma Nuttall was Iona's second finisher in 15th place overall with a time of 22:16.2.
This is the second straight year that Morenaite has qualified for the NCAA Championships as an individual. Last season she earned her spot in the championship field following a seventh place showing at the Northeast Regional Meet.
The NCAA Championship takes place on Friday, Nov. 16, hosted by the University of Wisconsin.

Samson Usilo kicked off his senior season in style, averaging 7.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 steal over the Jaspers' first two games. Off the court, Usilo was also inducted into the prestigious Chi Epsilon organization, which is dedicated to the purpose of maintaining and promoting the status of civil engineering as an ideal profession.
