Rider's Walles, Monmouth's Smith and Iona's Lopez-Silvers Named Swimming and Diving Weekly Award Winners
Men’s Diver of the Week:
Dillon Walles, Rider
So., The Woodlands, TX/ The Woodlands High School
Sophomore Dillon Walles was dominant in the diving events for the Broncs in a tri-meet against La Salle and Delware. Walles won both the 1M and the 3M as Rider defeated the Blue Hens and the Explorers. He posted a score of 268.45 in the 1M and he had a total score of 303.30 in the 3M. He has the highest score in the 3M in the MAAC this season and is one of just two divers in the league to post a score over 300 in the 3M this season. Walles has already qualified for the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships.
Men’s Swimmer of the Week:
Callan Smith, Monmouth

Freshman Callan Smith has been Monmouth's top swimmer this season and continued his incredible start to the season by winning three individual races in both of Monmouth's meets against Iona and Saint Francis Brooklyn. Smith set three new team records on Friday in the 100 free (47.69), 200 free (1:43.18) and 500 free (4:39.38). He followed that up on Saturday by winning the 100 back (51.69, team record time), 200 back (1:59.40) and 500 free (4:58.21). Smith has 14 first-place finishes for the 2018-19 season and holds team records in the 100, 200, 500 and 1000 free and the 100 back.
Women’s Swimmer of the Week:
Willow Lopez-Silvers, Iona
So., University Place, WA/ Curtis Senior
Lopez-Silvers also took home first place in the 100-Back at 1:00.51 and 500-Free at 5:21.67. She was also part of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team.
