Four from MAAC Volleyball Named Google Cloud Academic All-District
EDISON, NJ – Four student-athletes from MAAC Volleyball were named to the 2018 Google Cloud All-Academic All-District Teams. Three from Iona College and one from Manhattan College were named First Team All-District in District I.
Claire Archibald, Jessica Paolucci, and Jamie Smith represented Iona College and Samantha Wagner represented Manhattan College.
The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Volleyball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Archibald, an Accounting major with a 3.81 GPA, has made the MAAC All-Academic Team twice. The 2018 Preseason Co-Player of the Year led the MAAC in kills per set (3.89) during the regular season and helped the Gaels claim the 2018 Regular Season Title.
Paolucci, also a two-time MAAC All-Academic Team member, owns a 3.93 GPA while majoring in Mass Communication. The libero was third in the MAAC during the regular season with 4.82 digs/set.
Smith, the 2017 MAAC Volleyball Rookie of the Year, sports a 3.95 GPA in Business Administration and is second on Iona in kills/set at 2.74.
Wagner has a 3.97 GPA while majoring in Marketing. The senior will graduate this spring with her degree. Wagner, a defensive specialist, will finish her career with more than 220 digs.
First-Team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
