No. 3 Fairfield (11-8) blanked No. 2 Rider (12-8) behind a stingy defense Friday afternoon, 1-0. The Stags are in the MAAC Championship game for the fourth-straight year. Fairfield won in 2015 and 2017. Fairfield’s shutout victory marked its seventh shutout of the season and allowed a season-low two shots.

Fairfield Notes
• Luzi Persiehl scored her first career goal and game-winner.
• Danielle Profita tallied a game-high four shots and three on goal.
• Fairfield outshot Rider 15-2.
 
Rider Notes
• Lena Vandam totaled six saves.
• Alison Amen recorded a defensive save late to keep the Broncs within one.
• The Broncs end their season 11-8 overall.

No. 1 Monmouth (12-6) had control throughout the game scoring four first-half goals. Monmouth defeated No. 4 Sacred Heart (8-12), 7-1. Elyssa Okken and Josephine van der Hoop scored two goals each to advance to the MAAC Championship for the third year in a row.
 
Monmouth Notes
• Elyssa Okken and Josephine van der Hoop each scored two goals.
• Gab Giradi and Annick van Lange both scored goals.
•  Kelly Hanna and Annie Deusch recorded an assist.
•  Kate O’Hogan recorded four saves
 
Sacred Heart Notes
•  Kayla Bedel-Franklin scored her second goal of the season.
• Coleen McAninley recorded her fourth assist of the season on the Bedel-Franklin goal.
•  Hailey Power totaled 11 saves.
  
The MAAC Championship will be played Sunday, November 4 at 12 p.m. Fairfield and Monmouth will have met in the past three MAAC Field Hockey Championship games; winning two. Monmouth was the 2017 runners-up and the 2016 and 2014 champions. Monmouth and Fairfield each have two MAAC Championships, most in league history. Monmouth leads MAAC history with three championship appearances.
