After a scoreless first half, Allen Gavilanes scored off a feed from Juan Parada in the 48th minute. The tally proved to be enough to propel No. 3 Marist College (8-5-4) past No. 6 Saint Peter’s University (8-9-2) and into the semifinals of the MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship for the first time since 2011.
Marist Notes
• The goal was Gavilanes’ fifth of the season. The sophomore is now tied for the team lead in goals (5) and leads the team in points (16).
• Parada’s assist was the senior’s first of 2018.
• Ryan Sinnott stopped the only shot that came on frame to collect the shutout—sixth of the season—and moved his record to 8-3-4.
• Marist will visit No. 2 Quinnipiac in a semifinal matchup on Thursday. Time and network for the game are still to be determined.
Saint Peter’s Notes
• Jordan Jowers and Tom Coulson had three shots each to lead the Peacocks.
• Jason Dubrovich made three stops between the pipes.
• Saint Peter’s ended its season at 8-9-2 overall. The eight wins are the most under head coach Julian Richens.

Second-half goals from Sylvain Coco and Pablo DeCastro lifted No. 5 Rider University (8-9-1) past No. 4 Iona College (10-6-2) and into the semifinals of the MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship.
Rider Notes
• Coco opened the scoring in the 74th minute, and DeCastro added the insurance in the 85th.
• The goal was Coco’s third of the season, and DeCastro put home his seventh.
• Rider recorded its third-straight shutout. The Broncs have outscored their opposition 9-0 over the three games.
• Pablo Gatinois kept his fifth clean sheet of 2018 and improved to 8-6 on the year.
• Rider advances to the semifinals where it will travel to No. 1 seed Fairfield on Thursday. Time and network for the game are still to be determined.
• It is the fourth-straight semifinal appearance for the Broncs.
Iona Notes
• Iona held a 5-0 advantage in shots in the first half, but Rider outshot them 10-4 in the second half. Three of the Gaels’ nine shots went on goal
• Giuliano Santucci made two stops in goal for the Gaels.
• The Gaels had not lost at home since the season opener—7-0-1 entering Sunday.
• Iona finished the season at 10-6-2, which is the first time since 2015 that the Gaels had double-digit wins.
