MAAC Announces Full ESPN Men’s Basketball Broadcast Schedule
EDISON, NJ - The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announces the Men’s Basketball ESPN schedule for the 2018-19 season. The season officially gets underway on Tuesday, November 6. The season culminates with the 2019 MAAC Men’s Basketball Championship Game on Monday, March 11 at 9 p.m. on either ESPN or ESPN2.
A pair of men’s basketball games will stream on ESPN3 on the opening night of the season; Lehigh at Monmouth University and Elon at Manhattan College. Both contests will begin at 8:30 p.m.
Throughout the regular season, a total of 97 MAAC men’s basketball games will be shown on ESPNU, ESPN3, or ESPN+ - the new multi-sport, direct-to-consumer video service from The Walt Disney Company’s Direct-to-Consumer and International (DTCI) segment and ESPN. Across both men’s and women’s basketball, 195 broadcasts will be carried on ESPN networks. Games aired on an ESPN network will also be available through the ESPN App, accessible on computers, smartphones, tablets and connected devices to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider.
“The MAAC membership continues to see growth in its national distribution of college basketball games on ESPN,” said Commissioner Rich Ensor. “In year two of the conference’s eight-year agreement with ESPN, a record 195 MAAC basketball contests will be broadcast on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN3, and ESPN+.”
Iona College and Marist College will also tip-off ESPN3 during the opening week of the season. The Gaels host Albany on November 9 and the Red Foxes welcome Columbia on November 10.
During the regular season, as a part of the conference broadcast package, five Fridays (January 11, 25, February 8, 22, and March 1) will feature a men’s basketball matchup on ESPNU. For four-of-the-five Fridays, any game on the MAAC schedule flexed on to ESPNU as the MAAC Wildcard Game of the week.
In total, 74 league games will be on ESPNU, ESPN3, or ESPN+ during the season.
