Monmouth to Play Virginia in the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The 2018 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women’s Soccer Champions, Monmouth University (16-3-1), heads to Charlottesville, VA to take on No. 3 seed University of Virginia (15-4) for an NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship First Round game. First Round games are scheduled for the weekend of November 9-11.
 
The winner will then play the winner of Texas Tech University (13-5-2) and Princeton University (11-3-2).
 
For the third-straight year, Monmouth claimed the MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship. Led by the MAAC Offensive Player of the Year and the Most Outstanding Player of the MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship, Madie Gibson, the top-seeded Hawks defeated third-seeded Siena College, 7-1. The seven goals set a MAAC Championship Game record, and six different players scored. The Hawks have won 11-straight and have outscored its opponents 41-3.
 
It is Monmouth's sixth NCAA Tournament berth in program history (2007, 2009, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018). The Hawks have won four MAAC Women’s Soccer Championships as a member of the league (2013, 2016, 2017, 2018).
 
Monmouth met Virginia in the 2016 NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship and fell 1-4. That is the only meeting between the two teams.
