Canisius junior Cassidy Ceriani, who holds a 3.56 grade point average, helped the Golden Griffins volleyball team sweep the season series from rival Niagara last weekend as the setter continues an outstanding season for the Blue and Gold.
Ceriani's strong weekend in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play was highlighted by an individual milestone. Using 41 assists in the Griffs' win in straight sets over the Purple Eagles, the junior setter passed the 2,500-assist milestone in her career, becoming just the fifth player in program history to do so. The win also saw the San Diego, California, native rack up five kills at a .625 hitting percentage, adding on two block assists and eight digs.
Ceriani opened the 2018 campaign in style with her first career triple-double versus Montana State, and has recorded seven double-doubles since. The setter has also posted 40-or-more assists in eight matches this season. The junior has done more than just set though, as she has tallied 103 kills, 220 digs, 22 service aces, 22 block assists and a .306 hitting percentage in addition to 846 assists.
