James Towns, Niagara

James Towns led the Purple Eagles in points and assists as Niagara split a pair of road games. Towns averaged 18.5 points per game, 4.5 assists per game, and 5.0 rebounds per game. He went a team-best 11-for-13 at the free-throw line. The junior scored a game-high 18 points and shared game-high marks in assists with four against Cleveland State on December 19. Towns helped spur a second half comeback win at Army on December 22 behind a game-high 19 points, including 16 in the second half. He led the team in assists with five and grabbed six boards.
 
Rookie of the Week
Neftali Alvarez, Fairfield
Fr., Cantano, Puerto Rico/Miami Christian
Neftali Alvarez scored a game-high and a career-high 23 points to lead the Fairfield men's basketball team to a 63-57 win at New Hampshire. The guard also added five rebounds, two assists and two steals in his 30 minutes of work. Down the stretch, he stopped a 5-0 New Hampshire run that cut the Stags lead from nine points to four points before he made a pair of free throws with 1:42 left in the game.
