Claire Archibald Named AVCA East Coast Region Honorable Mention

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Senior Claire Archibald of the Iona College volleyball program is an honorable mention among the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division I Regional Awards in the East Coast Region.

Archibald concluded her Maroon & Gold career with one of the most well-built resumes in program history. She was named the unanimous Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Year, living up to the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year expectations. Archibald is the first Gael Player of the Year since Miki Hogg in 2004. She was also named to the MAAC All-Championship Team.

This season Coto de Caza, CA averaged a career-best 3.88 kills and 3.50 digs per set. She had a .231 attack percentage while scoring 4.29 points per set.

Archibald had four 20+ kill matches this season and in two of which she recorded a season-best 23. On Sept. 29 against Canisius, she had a season-high 24 points. Against Rider on Oct. 3 in a five set marathon, she had 23 kills along with a career-high 35 digs.

She concludes her career as Iona's all-time leader in kills with 1561. The record was set in the MAAC Championship game against the Golden Griffins. Archibald is also the program's all-time leader in attack attempts (4375). She has the second-highest kill per set (3.43) and 13th highest service aces per set (0.33) average.

Archibald ranks top-10 in service aces (149), service attempts (1576), digs (1343), digs per set (2.95), points (1771.0), points per set (3.89), sets played (455) and matches played (123).
