BUFFALO, NY – The 2018 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships return to the Burt Flickinger Center at Erie Community College (ECC) for the eighth consecutive year. The championships co-hosted by Canisius College, the MAAC, and Niagara University will span three days and is set to stream live on MAAC.TV.

On the men’s side, Rider University looks to earn their seventh-straight and eighth overall MAAC Swimming & Diving Championship. The Broncs are led by senior, Zach Molloy the individual record holder for the 500 (4:22.74), 200 (1:34.84), and 100 (43.74) free events at the MAAC Championships. Molloy is also the two-time defending MAAC Most Outstanding Male Swimmer of the Year. Rider received nine of 10 first place votes in this year’s preseason coaches’ poll.
 
For the women, Marist College is seeking ninth-straight MAAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship. Led by senior and 2017 MAAC Co-Outstanding Female Swimmer of the Year, Sara Nestrowitz. The Red Foxes were the unanimous favorite in the 2018 Preseason Coaches’ Poll to take home their 19th MAAC Swimming & Diving Championship.
 
Around the League:
  • Bryant University holds the top-three marks in the MAAC for the men’s 1-meter dive this season. Kevin Sullivan (408.00) in third, Zach Vogel (430.20) in second, and in first Trevor Hazlewood with a score of 441.55. Sullivan also holds the top mark in the men’s 3-meter dive with a score of 427.90.
  • Canisius College men’s diver, Travis Wright has been named the MAAC Male Most Outstanding Diver of the Year two years in a row.
  • The Griffs diving duo of Wright and Vivian Mroz have earned a combined nine MAAC Diver of the Week awards this season.
  • Fairfield’s Sarah Herbold holds the top mark in the MAAC this year in the 100-free (53.05), 200-free (1:53.50), and is second in the 500-free (5:02.11).
  • Marist men’s diver, Peter Gallino and Canisius female diver, Vivian Mroz have qualified for the NCAA Diving Zone Qualifier Championships.
  • Niagara holds the top times in the MAAC for the women’s 200-free relay (1:36.26), 200-free relay (3:31.27), and 400-medley relay (3:55.50).
  • Rider’s Justin Carey holds the top times in the MAAC for the 100-fly (48.50), 50-back (23.01), 100-back (48.15), and 200-back (1:48.33) events. Carey was the 2017 MAAC Swimming Rookie of the Meet.
