NEW YORK, NY – The MAAC Player of the Week was not the only award that Fairfield University Women's Basketball's Samantha Cooper earned this week. The redshirt senior was also named the Met Basketball Writer's Division I Player of the Week for her career-high performance and two double-doubles throughout the week. The honor marks the second time this season (and third time in her career) that Cooper has earned an award from the Met Writers.

Her career performance against Iona that included a personal best 29 points on 11-for-16 shooting started off a 1-1 week for the Stags. She led all players in points and rebounds (12) in the contest. Those 12 boards helped her pass Robin Massari for fifth place on the program's all-time rebounding list with over 930 career rebounds.

Cooper would record her conference-leading 12th double-double in Fairfield's setback against Manhattan, when she scored 43 percent of the team's points. Cooper led all players with 19 points, to bring her week's average to 24.0 points on a .581 shooting percentage.

This marks the first Met Writer's weekly award for Cooper since December 5, when she also averaged 24 points in games against UMass Lowell and Boston College.

Cooper and the Stags will play in two home games this week, starting with a Valentine's Day contest against Marist on Wednesday at 7pm.
