Quinnipiac Clinches Fourth-Straight MAAC Women's Basketball Regular Season Title
EDISON, NJ – Quinnipiac University topped Marist College, 80-74, in double overtime, on Sunday to clinch the MAAC Women’s Basketball Regular Season Title and secure the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Championship.
It is the fourth-straight regular season title for the Bobcats and head coach Tricia Fabbri. The Bobcats are 70-6 in MAAC regular season play during the four-year span.
Quinnipiac (22-5, 16-0 MAAC) extended its winning streak to 17 games with the road triumph. The Bobcats were led by Aryn McClure with 25 points. The win also pushes the Bobcats’ win streak against MAAC schools to 26 straight.
Marist (17-11, 13-3 MAAC), who will be the No. 2 seed in the MAAC Championship, saw its nine-game winning streak snapped. The Red Foxes were led by Rebekah Hand, who scored 20.
The Bobcats lead the MAAC in scoring offense (70.8 ppg), scoring defense (58.0 ppg), scoring margin (12.8), three-point field goal percentage (34.0%), turnover margin (6.35), assist/turnover ratio (1.37), blocks per game (4.5), assists per game (17.3), and steals per game (10.9).
Quinnipiac will play its first game in the MAAC Basketball Championships on Friday, March 2, at 1 p.m. against either the No. 8 or No. 9 seed.
For the first time ever, the entire MAAC Basketball Championships will be broadcasted live on the ESPN Family of Networks. The Women’s Basketball Championship game will be aired on ESPNU on Monday, March 5, at 2:30 p.m.
