Canisius' Morro, Sobieraski & Rider's Vitacco Earn MAAC Baseball Weekly Awards

Conner Morro, Canisius

Conner Morro hit .467 (7-15) with one triple and five RBI this past weekend for Canisius. The junior recorded three multi-hit games, which included going 3-4 with three RBI in Sunday’s win over Milwaukee. Morro collected two game-winning hits for the Griffs. Morro excelled in the field as well, with 17 chances, nine putouts, and seven assists.
Pitcher of the Week
Charlie Sobieraski, Canisius
Sr., P, Lockport, NY/Lockport
Charlie Sobieraski picked up the win in Canisius’ victory over Milwaukee on Sunday. The senior tossed 7.0 innings, allowed two runs, earned, on six hits. He struck out two and walked none in the 84-pitch effort.
Rookie of the Week
Vincent Vitacco, Rider
Fr., P, Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell
Vincent Vittaco tossed 4.0 shutout innings and a picked up a save as Rider and Ohio split a four-game series. Over the course of two appearances he recorded seven strikeouts and scattered four hits. In a 6-4, win he pitched a scoreless ninth inning and registered two strikeouts to earn his first career save. In the finale, Vitacco worked 3.0 scoreless innings and fanned five hitters.
