Niagara's Crump, Iona's McCaffrey & Farifield's DiFatta Named MAAC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Honorees

Offensive Player of the Week
Caroline Crump, Niagara
Jr., Attack, Kingston, NY/Kingston

Crump led the Purple Eagles in goals (11) and points (11) as they went 2-0 with wins against St. Bonaventure (Feb. 22) and Duquesne (Feb. 25). Crump tallied four markers in a 16-6 victory at St. Bonaventure. Crump netted a career-high seven goals, which are the most in the MAAC, including the go-ahead goal in Niagara's 17-14 win at Duquesne.

Defensive Player of the Week
Shannon McCaffrey, Iona
Jr., Goalkeeper, Hauppauge, NY/Hauppauge

McCaffrey shined in net in two wins for the Gaels last week including a 12 save performance on Saturday against Holy Cross. Against Sacred Heart, the junior tallied nine saves and grabbed four ground balls in a 13-8 win over the Pioneers. In Iona's 11-4 win over Holy Cross, the junior made 12 saves and allowed only four goals. For the week, McCaffrey stopped 21 shots and recorded a save percentage of .636.

Rookie of the Week
Paulina DiFatta, Fairfield
So., Goalkeeper, Dix Hills, NY/
Half Hollow Hills West

DiFatta, who claims her second weekly honor, stopped 30 shots in the cage for the week, highlighted by an 18-save showing in the Stags' overtime win at Hofstra on Saturday. Her 18 stops matched the most in the nation by a goalkeeper in a winning effort this season. DiFatta also totaled eight ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers to go along with a .545 save percentage.
