Lewis & DiGuilio Earn Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

Men’s Basketball
Graduate men’s basketball guard Zach Lewis played his best basketball of the season at the 2018 MAAC Championship. Named the 2018 Most Outstanding Player of the Championship, Lewis averaged 19.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game. His had two 20-point performances over the course of the three games.
Lewis’s efforts propelled the Maroon & Gold to their third straight MAAC title. It is just the third time in MAAC history that a program has won three straight league championships. They join Siena College (2008-10) and former MAAC member La Salle (1988-90).
It was revealed on Selection Sunday that the Iona men’s basketball program earned a No. 15 seed and it face No. 2 Duke in the opening round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament in Pittsburgh, PA. The Gaels and Blue Devils tip-off on Thursday, Mar. 15 at 2:45 PM. The game is being aired on CBS.

Softball
DiGuilio has played in all 11 games for the Stags’ softball team this season, earning 10 starts in those appearances. She leads the team in hitting with a .348 batting average and is tied for the team lead with four extra base hits (three doubles, one triple). She posted at least one hit in six of her 10 starts this year with two multiple hit games. DiGuilio also owns a .400 on-base percentage which is first among the regulars. A native of Warwick, N.Y., DiGuilio is pursuing a degree in biology.
