MAAC Announces Week 4 Baseball Weekly Honors

Player of the Week
Fabian Pena, Manhattan
Jr., C, Miami, FL/Calusa Prep
 
Fabian Pena hit .438 (7-16) with two doubles, two home runs, seven runs, eight RBI, and two walks. He slugged .938 and recorded a .526 on-base percentage. Pena went 3-4 with two home runs, five runs, and five RBI, while reaching base safely five times in the series opening win at UNC Asheville. The junior capped the doubleheader sweep by going 2-4 with a double, three RBI, and scored a run. He then doubled and scored a run in the finale.
 
Co-Pitcher of the Week
J.P. Stevenson, Canisius
Sr., P, New Glasgow, P.E.I./Vauxhall
 
J.P. Stevenson received the no-decision in Canisius’ 5-4 loss at Liberty. Stevenson tossed 7.0 inning allowed one earned run and struck out five in the outing. The senior surrendered five hits and walked just two batters in the 91-pitch effort.

Brendan White, Siena
So., P, Mahopac, NY/Mahopac
 
Brendan White tossed 7.0 shutout innings at No. 23 Central Florida Saturday in Orlando. He surrendered just three hits and allowed only five baserunners, while striking out four and did not issue a walk. White retired 12 of the 14 batters he faced in receiving a no-decision in the Saints’ eventual 1-0 loss against UCF.
 
Rookie of the Week
Ryan Steckline, Monmouth
Fr., P/INF, Newark, DE/Appoquinimink
 
Ryan Steckline drove in five runs on the weekend, including a four-RBI day on Friday, and scored twice at Delaware. He also contributed on the mound, as he tossed 1.2 shutout innings and did not allow a hit in the appearance.
