MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Conference Play Begins on Saturday

EDISON, NJ – The conference portion of the 2018 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men’s lacrosse schedule begins on Saturday, March 17. Each institution plays a total of six conference games, with each team having one bye week.

League Notes:
  • Manhattan’s Parker Giarratana leads the MAAC in goals (12) and is second in the conference in points (24). Canisius’ Connor Kearnan leads the league in points (24), points per (6.0), assists (15), and assists per game (3.75). Kearnan has totaled nine goals in four games for the Griffs.
  • Quinnipiac’s Joe Zukauskas has recorded the lowest goals against average in the MAAC (6.75) through four games in net. Siena’s Anthony Tebbano leads the league in saves per game (12.75). Marist’s Brian Corrigan has recorded the most saves (86) in the MAAC this season. Manhattan’s Michael Zingaro leads the conference in save percentage (58.5%).
  • Quinnipiac’s Will Vitelli leads the league in both ground balls (38) and ground balls per game (6.33). Vitelli has also won the most faceoffs in the MAAC (74) and has the highest faceoff winning percentage (68.5%).
  • Monmouth was selected as the unanimous favorite in the 2018 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Poll, based on a vote by the leagues’ seven head coaches as announced on January 31. Siena senior attack Chris Robertson claimed the MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Player of the Year honor.
  • ESPN announced on January 30, that the men’s lacrosse matchup between Monmouth and Canisius on Friday, April 27, is set to air on ESPNU at 4 p.m. from the Demske Sports Complex in Buffalo, NY.
  • The 2018 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship is hosted by Monmouth University at Kessler Stadium in West Long Branch, NJ. The top four teams from the regular season qualify for the MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship.
