Quinnipiac University's season came to a close in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament with a 71-46 loss to top-seeded Connecticut. The Bobcats held UConn to 35 points in the first half and trailed only 35-18 at the break. Connecticut then scored 21 points in the third quarter to pull away. Connecticut advances to the Sweet 16 in the Albany Regional.
Quinnipiac Notes:
Juniors Jen Fay and Paula Strautmane led the Bobcats in scoring with 12 and nine points respectively.
The Bobcats finish the year at 28-6.
Senior Carly Fabbri had a team-high four assists in her final game as a Bobcat.
Quinnipiac only turned the ball over seven times and turned UConn over 13 times on the night, but the Bobcats did not get any points on the break and eight points off those 13 Huskie turnovers.
Connecticut Notes:
Quinnipiac held UConn to 19 points in the first quarter. Fifth time this season the Huskies have scored under 20 points in the opening frame.
Connecticut advances to its 25th-straight Sweet 16.
Napheesa Collier led all scorers with 23 points. Azzura Stevens and Kia Nurse were also in double figures for Connecticut.
Connecticut shot 59-percent from the field, 50-percent from 3-point range, and 92-percent from the free throw line.
