Smith & Cullen Claim MAAC Pepsi Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

Monmouth senior Alexa Smith (Westhampton Beach, NY/Westhampton Beach) has been named MAAC Student Athlete of the Week after recording four goals in Monmouth’s 14-8 win over Quinnipiac last weekend.
Smith led all goal scorers and helped the Hawks get out to a 2-0 lead, one that would eventually balloon to 6-1. Her second goal of the game gave her 100 in her career, making the attacker just the 13
th player in program history to hit triple digits in goals. She currently has 102 goals, which places her 12
th all-time in Monmouth history.
Smith currently owns a 3.8 grade point average and is slated to graduate in May with a degree in bio chemistry. She was an IWLCA Academic Honor Roll selection and MAAC All-Academic team member as a junior.

Cullen is having an outstanding season for the Purple Eagles so far. He leads the team with 29 hits and a .492 batting average. He has nine RBIs, 14 runs scored, three doubles, two homeruns and a team-best two triples. Cullen was named MAAC Player of the Week on Feb. 27 after an impressive outing in the Purple Eagles’ season-opening series against Longwood.
