Quinnipiac Repeats as MAAC Women's Basketball Champions

No. 1 seed Quinnipiac University (27-5) repeated as MAAC Women's Basketball Champions with a 67-58 win over No. 2 seed Marist College (20-13). The Bobcats went a perfect 21-0 against MAAC foes (18 wins in the regular season and three in the conference championship) this season. Bobcats will be going to the NCAA Tournament for the third time as members of the MAAC.

Quinnipiac Notes:
Junior forward Jen Fay was named Championship MVP after averaging 15.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists over three games.
Junior forward Aryn McClure and senior guard Carly Fabbri joined Fay on the All-Championship Team from Quinnipiac.
Fay finished the title game with a double-double (23 points and 10 rebounds). Nineteen of Fay's 23 points came after halftime. The junior scored the first eight points of the third quarter that put the Bobcats ahead for good.
Fabbri had 15 points (5-of-7 shooting) and junior forward Paula Strautmane added 12 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two blocks.
Quinnipiac forced 13 Marist turnovers and scored 16 points off of them.
McClure joined the 1,000-point club with her seven points.
It is the third title in the last four years for the Bobcats.
Quinnipiac tied its school record with its 22nd-straight win. They have now won 31-straight games against MAAC schools.
Fourth-straight year the No. 1 seed has won the MAAC Championship.

Marist Notes:
Red-shirt sophomore forward Alana Gilmer and sophomore guard Rebekah Hand were named to the All-Championship Team.
Gilmer had 19 points in the title game and combined with Hand to score 36 of the Red Foxes' 58 points.
The Red Foxes are now 10-3 in title games. The 13 appearances are a conference record.
Marist will play in the WNIT this postseason (second time in program history). Marist's will find out its opponent and site on March 12.
