Week Six MAAC Men's Lacrosse Weekly Awards Announced
Offensive Player of the Week
Foster Cuomo, Quinnipiac
Jr., Attack, Oakville, Ontario/IMG Academy
Foster Cuomo had five goals and two assists, setting a new career high in both goals and points, as the Bobcats defeated NJIT 18-6 on Saturday. Cuomo had a hat trick in the first quarter to stake Quinnipiac to a 7-0 lead after 15 minutes.
Defensive Player of the Week
Charlie Hayes, Detroit Mercy
Sr., Midfield, Shelby Township, MI/Seaholm
The Titan defensive midfielder helped lead a defense that suffocated Bellarmine, 11-5, and nearly upset No. 4/6 Ohio State, falling 8-7. He caused a career high six turnovers against Bellarmine. Versus Ohio State, Hayes added a caused turnover and collected two ground balls for a total of eight on the week.
Rookie of the Week
Logan Shamblin, Detroit Mercy
Fr., Goalie, Washington Township, MI/Troy
The rookie goalkeeper was up to the challenge this week posting back-to-back games of a season-high 14 saves at the Midwest Classic. He opened the event stopping 14 shots against Bellarmine and allowing just five goals in an 11-5 victory. Against Ohio State, he made 14 more saves with a season best six ground balls.
