MAAC Instituions Compete at ECAC/IC4A Indoor Championships

BOSTON, MA – Eight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Indoor Track & Field Programs competed at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and IC4A Championships this past weekend in Boston, Mass. Monmouth University women’s program recorded a fourth place finish, while the men recorded a sixth place finish, the best among MAAC schools.

 

Monmouth Notes

 

·      The women’s program recorded top ten finishes in eleven different events, including a first place finish in the women’s 4x800 relay, as the team of Allie Wilson, Chandi Piiru, Brianna Stratz, and Kyra Velock recorded a time of 8:54.17.

·      Monmouth placed third in the pole vault (Casey Sturts, 3.90-meters), triple jump (Ashley McKinnon, 12.17), and fifth in the women’s 800-meter (Allie Wilson, 2:10.85), 1,000 meter (Brianna Stratz, 2:46.76).

·      Bryan Sosso placed third in the men’s 60-meter dash with a time of 6.76. He also finished sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 14.82.

·      Corey Murphy placed first in the shot put (18.23-meters) while teammate, Brandon Davis finished ninth with a distance of 16.70

·      Tim Wilson finished second in the weight throw with a distance of 19.59 and Chris Marco placed third in the 1-mile with a time of 4:05.57

 

Quinnipiac Notes

 

·      The Quinnipiac women recorded a total of 24 total points to finish in 11th place.

·      Emily Wolff and Jessica Lee picked up first place finishes in the 5,000-meter and 60-meter hurdles respectively.

·      Lee’s time of 8.25 was four houndreth’s of a second faster than her  MAAC Championship record time (8.29), set this season.

·      The 4x800 relay team comprised of Meghan Curtin, Alyson Caron, Ahmerta Davies, and Marla Wehrer finished fifth with a time of 9:03.08.

 

Manhattan Notes

·      The Jasper men finished 12th while the women placed 24th.

·      Alex Moore placed ninth in the men’s 400-meter dash (48.95), Ryan Addlesberger placed fifth in the shot put (17.01-meters), Eduard Winner placed second in the pole vault (5.05-meters), and Brenton Foster placed first in the high jump (2.10).

·      On the women’s side Paige Chapman placed sixth in the 60-meter dash (7.67), Charlene Pohl finished fifth in the long jump (5.67-meters), and Lisa Fajardo placed fourth in the 5,000-meter (16:45.66).

 

Rider Notes

·      The Rider women finished 20th overall.

·      Asia Young placed second in the long jump with a distance of 5.76 meters. Young was named MAAC Most Outstanding Performer for Field at this years MAAC Championships.

·      Karoline Sandvig had a weight throw toss of 18.32 meters which was .02 meters farther than her throw that set the new MAAC record at this years Championships, she placed fourth in the event.

·      Sara Gardner placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.57.

·      The Rider men finished seventh in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:15.65.

 

Iona Notes

·      The Iona men finished 16th and the women placed 36th

·      Johannes Motschmann took first in the mile with a time of 8:00.92. His teammate Brendan Jordan finished fifth with a time of 8:11.28.

·      In the women’s distance medley, Kaitlyn Ohrthman, Danika Jensen, Natalie Holder, and Rachel Garn finished 8th with a time of 11:48.21.

·      Kara McKenna placed fifth while Dani Martino placed eighth in the women’s 3,000-meter with times of 9:40.19 and 9.43.47 respectivley.

·      Johannes Motschmann and Brendan Jordan both finished in the top five in the men’s 3,000 meter. Motschmann finished first with a time of

 

Marist Notes

·      The Red Foxes women’s program placed tied for 26th.

·      The women’s distance relay team of Denise Grohn, Danisha Craig, Shea Bohan, and Janelle Solviletti placed nsnth for the Red Foxes.

·      Mosel Dietritch finished fourth in the men’s 5,000 meter for 14:19.14.

 

Canisius Notes

·      The men’s program placed tied for 26th.

·      The Griffs finished seventh in the men’s distance medley behind the team of Nicholas Neamtu, Marcus Brown, Paul Henry, and Jeff Antolos

 

Siena Notes

·      The Siena women finished the weekend tied for 41st.

·      Sarah Forman finished eighth in the women’s mile with a time of 4:52.68
