MAAC Divers Compete at NCAA Zones
PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) was well represented at NCAA Diving Zones that took place this week. Canisius College, Marist College, and Rider University all sent divers to Piscataway, NJ for a chance to compete at the NCAA Championships later this month.
In the men’s 1-meter prelims, Canisius’ senior Kris Santos placed 17
th with a score of 293.10, which qualified him for the championship round. In the championship round, Santos finished 14
th with a score of 597.05.
Rider’s Dillon Walles placed 28
th behind Santos with a score of 250.65. The 2018 MAAC Most Outstanding Diver, Travis Wright finished 31
st with a total score of 241.70, followed by Rider’s Joseph Warker in 33
rd with a 235.85. Marist’s Peter Gallino placed 35
th with a score of 227.20.
During the men’s 3-meter board prelims Rider’s Dillon Walles finished 16
th with a 597.05, followed by Marist’s Peter Gallino in 17
th with a score of 585.65.
Canisius’ Vinnie Costanzo placed 14
th on the women’s platform dive, with a score of 292.90, while teammate Vivian Mroz finished 45
th in the women’s 3-meter dive with a score of 183.30.
The NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships will be held March 21-24 at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, MN.
