Quinnipiac's Finley, Iona's Skinner and Fairfield's Westford Tabbed as MAAC Softball Weekly Winners
Player of the Week
Keilani Finley, Quinnipiac
R-Sr., Outfield, Alameda, CA/Encinal
Finley was Quinnipiac's top offensive player in a 5-0 week. Finley boasted a .429 batting average, .467 on-base percentage and a 1.286 slugging percentage. The California native hit two home runs, three triples and drove in 10 last week. Finley drove in five, scored three times, and went 3-for-3 in game two against Niagara on Sunday in the Bobcats’ sweep.
Pitcher Player of the Week
Marnie Skinner, Iona
So., Pitcher, Moses Lake, WA/Moses Lake
Skinner went 2-0 over the weekend against Siena and Rider. The sophomore pitched two complete games, going 16.0 innings allowing just one earned run while striking out 13 batters and walking just two. She had a 0.44 ERA and allowed just seven hits. Pitched all nine innings against Rider in an Iona with and allowed only two hits and a run while fanning eight Broncs.
Rookie of the Week
Drew Westford, Fairfield
Fr., Catcher, Ferndale, WA/Ferndale
Westford had at least one hit in all five Fairfield wins last week including a three-hit performance in a 4-3 eight-inning win over Yale. Westford batted .500 for the week and added three walks to elevate her on-base percentage to .600. The catcher also added two doubles and four RBI. Both of her doubles and three of her four RBI came against MAAC opponents. In game two against Saint Peter’s on Sunday, Westford went 2-for-4 with two RBI and scored once.
