Canisius' Reininger and Marist's Galvin Collect Women's Lacrosse Weekly Honors
Offensive Player of the Week
Jen Reininger, Canisius
Sr., Midfield, Irondequoit, NY/ West Irondequoit
Reininger finished the two-game week with the team lead in goals with seven, was second on the team in ground balls with nine, and paced the team in draw controls with 21. The highlight of Reininger capped the week with an overtime winner against Iona to move the Griffs to 2-0 in MAAC play. The senior midfielder recorded three goals and one assist at No. 7 Virginia earlier in the week while she posted four goals against the Gaels. She matched a then, career-best nine draw controls against the Cavaliers and then shattered that record by controlling 12 against Iona. Her penchant for coming up with the draw helped the Canisius offense erase a four-goal deficit with 13 minutes remaining in the game to force overtime.
Defensive Player & Rookie of the Week
Delaney Galvin, Marist
Fr., Goalkeeper, Smithtown, NY/St. Anthony's
Galvin continued her success in the goal this week, helping the Red Foxes go 1-1. Against Monmouth, Galvin finished with 17 saves and a .850 save percentage on 27 shots. Galvin and the defense held Monmouth 0-for-9 on free position shots in the Red Foxes' 14-3 victory. Despite falling by a goal at Yale (13-12), Galvin made 12 stops on 37 shots against the Bulldogs.
