Monmouth University Takes Home 2018 MAAC Men's Tennis Regular Season Title
EDISON, NJ – Monmouth University clinched the 2018 MAAC Men’s Tennis Regular Season Championship with a 5-2 win over Marist College on Sunday. The Hawks finished the season with a perfect 7-0 mark in MAAC play for the third time in the past four years.
Monmouth will enter the 2018 MAAC Men’s Tennis Championship as the No. 1 overall seed. The previous three times Monmouth has entered as the number one seed they went on to win the Championship twice, going back-to-back in 2016 and 2017.
Monmouth is set to appear in its fifth consecutive MAAC Men’s Tennis Championship. The top seeded Hawks face No. 4 Fairfield in the semifinals on Saturday, April 28, at 10 a.m.
The Hawks are led by Nicola Pipoli and Srdjan Jakovljevic who have yet to drop a match from the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots respectively during conference play this season. Pipoli and doubles partner Alberto Giuffrida are also unbeaten in conference action from the No. 1 doubles slot.
