Siena’s Drpich, Bellomo & Monmouth’s Campana Take Home MAAC Baseball Weekly Honors

Joe Drpich, Siena

Drpich hit .571 (12-21) with a .609 on-base percentage and an .810 slugging percentage in leading the Saints to three road wins last week. Drpich recorded hits in all five games, which included four multi-hit performances. He had three hits including a pair of RBI doubles in a midweek road win at Atlantic 10 foe UMass, and went 7-13 collectively at the plate in a weekend road series triumph at two-time defending MAAC Regular Season Champion Fairfield. Drpich went a perfect 4-4 in the decisive, series-clinching rubber game Sunday, highlighted by a grand slam.
Pitcher Player of the Week
Ryan Bellomo, Siena
R-Jr., Pitcher, Rutland, VT/Rutland
Bellomo struck out a career-high nine batters over 7.0 scoreless innings in his first start of the season to lead the Saints to a key road series victory over two-time defending MAAC Regular Season Champion Fairfield in the decisive rubber game of the series Sunday. Bellomo scattered just three hits to earn his first victory of the year.
Rookie of the Week
Nick Campana, Monmouth
Fr., Catcher/First Base, Dowingtown, PA/Dowingtown West
In his most extended action of the year, Campana took advantage, registering a hit in every game including a pair of two-hit days against Big Ten member Rutgers and Big East opponent Seton Hall. He drove in five runs and scored twice while playing a perfect first base in the first two games.
