2018 MAAC Women's Lacrosse Championship Field Set
EDISON, NJ – The six-team field for the 2018 MAAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship is finalized with first-round matchups being played on Saturday, April 28.
Marist College (10-6, 6-2 MAAC) won a four-way tiebreaker with Canisius College, Fairfield University, and Monmouth University per the MAAC Tiebreaker Policy and will be the number one seed in the championship. The Red Foxes will host the semifinal and championship rounds on Thursday, May 3 and Saturday, May 5.
Monmouth (8-9, 6-2 MAAC) clinched the number two seed because of its win over Iona, a Marist win, a Canisius win and Fairfield’s win.
The number three seed of the championship is Fairfield (10-6, 6-2 MAAC). The Stags will host a first-round match up on Saturday, April 28. Fairfield topped Manhattan College in its final game of the regular season.
Number four seed Canisius (9-8, 6-2 MAAC) will host number five seed Niagara (8-9, 5-3) on Saturday, April 28 in the second first round match up. Canisius was the fourth team of the four-team tiebreaker. Canisius topped Niagara in the regular season finale for both sides on Wednesday night.
Iona College (8-9, 3-5 MAAC) is the number six seed the championship and will travel to number three seed Fairfield on Saturday in a first-round matchup.
First Round • Saturday, April 28 at Higher Seeds
No. 6 seed Iona at No. 3 seed Fairfield
No. 5 seed Niagara at No. 4 seed Canisius
Semifinals • Thursday, May 3 at Marist College
Lowest Advancing Seed at No. 1 seed Marist
Highest Advancing Seed vs. No. 2 seed Monmouth
